Ho hum.Posted on November 2nd, 2008 @ 9:31 pm
I’m on day 2 of NaBloPoMo. I bet you’re asking how yesterday counts, because you see no post, but I’ve decided to let my WWU post count since I wrote it yesterday. I didn’t want to have a blog entry up for a day and then have it overshadowed by my WWU post, so instead I’m counting that!
Today was laundry day. I bet you’re super excited. I did two loads of laundry, which is enough to get us through the week. I might do another load mid-week to get some of Matt’s tee-shirts washed and our towels, which I tend to put off until the very last minute because our dryers are HORRIBLE. I haven’t put the laundry away yet, but I intend to at some point. Probably when I’m done writing this!
Matt and I went out for lunch today at Kempster’s. It’s close by our home and super cheap (seriously, it barely costs more than fast food for real, good food!) so we like it a lot. Why wouldn’t we? I had Chicken Parmesan and a Greek salad, which I realize is a strange combination, but they’re two of my favourite foods so why not? Matt had a clubhouse. After lunch, we went over to Future Shop to pre-order Wrath. I’ll be there at the midnight release. Yes, I’m a nerd, but I don’t care. Why not?
Oh, I got another extension, finally. I’m legal for sure until August, when I have to apply for another extension. I’m not worried, though. Why worry? I’m here, I’ve applied, and now I just wait. I’m making the most of my time and am more than happy to just relax and figure out what I want to do after that PR card comes in the mail.

Good day, bad day.Posted on October 22nd, 2008 @ 9:32 pm
Yesterday was a very good day.
- I woke up and the person I was supposed to tutor contacted me, which is an improvement over not getting in touch with me for weeks at a time. She had to cancel, but we’ll figure something out.
- I got my health card in the mail. Health care! I can go to a doctor and finally figure this issue out!
- Tutoring went well with my other learner. She’s so eager to learn, and it makes me happy!
- Exhumed killed Illidan. Yeah, it was after the health decrease (and a certain friend was very quick to remind me of that, thanks a lot…) but only five attempts on him when we killed him makes me proud. I’m looking forward to raiding with this group in Wrath - we’re going to do great!
Today was not quite so good.
- Woke up exhausted for no good reason, and decided to sleep in. This always throws me off.
- Got a phone call from one of the tutors; she was running late. No big deal though, because she was on top of things and made it there!
- I went to boil an egg for lunch and managed to boil all the water out of it. Did you know eggs explode? They do. Gross.
- I was cooking pizza for supper and took it out when it said to, tried to cut it, and Matt realized it was undercooked. Yuck again!
I know these things are minor, but they frustrated me! Thankfully yesterday was so fabulous that I managed to keep a positive outlook for the most part.
In other news, I am thinking about getting my hair cut. My hair is lower-back length (even after chopping it off last winter) and grows very quickly, so I’m not too worried, but I don’t know. Something about cutting my hair off makes me anxious. Maybe I’m one of those girls who “hides behind her hair” or something. I don’t know. I was thinking about something a bit shorter, maybe even shoulder length, with side bangs and layers. I need something less… plain. I’m thinking about buying some dye, too, because my natural colour is coming through and it’s getting on my nerves. Sun-lightened hair is no fun when your dark roots come through! What do you think?

So much to do…Posted on October 8th, 2008 @ 11:15 am
I’m running around lately like a headless chicken. Not an attractive sight - especially at the end of the day when I’m exhausted and forget everything I did in a day. Plus, the things that I -want- to do at home are things that I don’t get around to, and that’s never good. But it works out in the end.
Today’s tasks are:
- Work on one of my Christmas scarves. I have about 7 more to go so the quicker I finish them, the better.
- At least one load of laundry when Matt gets home. I need to wash his work pants, or else I’d just do it now.
- Upload photos of the new car, so that I can show it off!
- Finish up a post I’ve been working on that’s been sitting in drafts for about two months now. I seriously forgot it was there, how bad is that?
-
- Clean up the floor behind my desk and my desk itself. What a disaster this room is now that I’m not home all the time.
Doesn’t seem like a big list, I’m sure, but to me it’s pretty daunting. I hate doing laundry these days because it’s so far down, and cleaning the room is exhausting, and uploading photos means I have to sit here and CONCENTRATE and really, how can I do that these days?
As for why I’ve been a poor headless chicken the past few weeks? Here’s exactly what my day was yesterday:
- 8:30 - Showered, got dressed, and packed up my supplies for…
- 10:15 - Coordinator picked me for a volunteer fair at MSVU. This event wasn’t too bad - lots of talking (recruiting) and a slice of pizza, and oh yeah - translating a brochure from Spanish to English for a woman that was trying to help her son get ready for his First Communion. Random? Of course.
- 2:00 - Headed to the office at Dalhousie. Made a few phone calls to get ready for today’s learner heading downtown. Filed some paperwork.
- 3:45 - Headed to one of the sites for the reading clubs to drop off some books and information.
- 4:30 - First homework club. My learner didn’t get there until 6:30 but I got there early to help out a bit with organization.
- 8:00 - Got home. Done tutoring for the day. Grabbed a quick plate of supper and ate it as fast as I could.
- 8:30 - Logged into WoW to raid. Raided until 12:45 or something (might not have been that late, not sure) and then went to bed.
Is it any wonder I just want to sleep?

So tired.Posted on September 18th, 2008 @ 10:45 am
I’m exhausted. I don’t know why. I think the seasons changing along with my brutal cold are doing me in. All I want to do is sleep but then I wake up with a pressure headache and it’s like I wasted all that rest.
I’ve been playing around on the WoW beta recently, and I’m looking forward to the expansion. Current WoW is boring to me lately. I don’t get in on some of the smaller raids that I want to (long story for another time, or no time at all) and Hyjal makes me gag just looking at it. I don’t mind fishing, though. That’s one thing I do daily without stressing. It’s almost like real-life fishing. You just go, cast your line, and wait for the bite. I’ve been tracking certain things about it lately (I’m fishing with a goal in mind) so that puts my inner number-cruncher at ease. I figure that being in the beta gives me a good head-start on figuring out what I want to do before Wrath, so I know what I need to accomplish first, before it comes out.
I feel this need to write, but nothing to write about. It’s awful. I’ve been lazy with a lot of things lately. I haven’t been taking my 2000 steps every day. I haven’t been writing as much as I want to. I haven’t been cleaning as much as I want to, and I have a mountain of laundry waiting to be tackled that I’m too tired to even look at. I really just want to sleep, and then feel all better when I wake up.

Sick.Posted on September 14th, 2008 @ 5:32 pm
Matt and I are both sick. It started with me, last Monday. I had a bit of a sore throat starting Monday night and by Tuesday evening my voice was almost gone and I was in tears because it hurt so bad. By Wednesday it was more a really deep chest cough and stuffy nose than a sore throat. However, I knew I was in trouble when Matt said yesterday that his throat had started hurting. Not good.
In other news, last week was very busy for me. I helped out with the international students on Monday. That was exciting. 125 foreign students in one building for their ESL assessments. I enjoyed it though - had a few conversations with children from all over the world, got to eat some food, get some exercise, and do something good for someone else all at the same time. Tuesday, I manned (womanned?) a booth at a volunteer fair at Dalhousie. I was recruiting new volunteers and looking around at the other booths to see what other opportunities there were in the area. Wednesday I rested, and then Thursday I went to the library for tutoring. I was so sick that walking to and from the library/bus terminals was torture, but I didn’t want to let my learner down. She’s had people blow her off before and I didn’t want to be one of them!
I’ve been playing (okay, crashing) in the Wrath of the Lich King beta the past few days quite a bit. I have a couple characters transferred over there and have started a death knight. A fun class, and I intend to make one, but I won’t be playing it as much as my already-established characters. I’m so glad to be a part of it - leaving feedback, reporting bugs, testing new content, and most of all, taking screenshots. Now if only the servers would work so I can get back to leveling!
PS: I’ve lost 4.5 lbs since I stopped going to the gym. Living my life healthier seems to be doing the trick! I can only imagine how well it’ll go once I start actually working out (intentionally) at home!
