20 Questions Meme
Posted on July 11th, 2008 @ 12:21 pm

I was tagged on LiveJournal, but decided to do this at my site as well because I post there a lot more often. Why not, right?

A) People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blogs & replace any question that they dislike with a new question formulated by themselves.

B) Tag 10 people to do this quiz & those who are tagged cannot refuse. These people must state who they were tagged by & cannot tag the person whom they were tagged by. Continue this game by sending it to other people.

1. How has LJ blogging changed your life?
Honestly, through blogging and LJ I’ve “met” (virtually) a lot of fabulous people that have impacted my life in many ways, through their experiences and through their support from my experiences. Plus, it’s a nice place to get my thoughts and feelings out!

2. What do you do before bedtime?
Clean up my desk and finish up any projects that I was working on. Sometimes I’ll play games (some nights I’ll be raiding in WoW) and every night I cuddle up with Matt and watch either movies or TV shows as we fall asleep.

3. What will your dream wedding be like?
I’ve already had it! The only thing that could have made my wedding better is if my family could have been there, but it was short notice and traveling is expensive.

4. What is the city of your dreams and why?
Honestly? I absolutely love it here. The beach is just minutes away, as is a very busy and “alive” downtown area. I couldn’t think of a better mixture!

5. Are you an introvert or extrovert?
Introvert for sure.

6. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone?
I think being loved by someone. When you can truly say that you feel loved, it’s amazing.

7. Do you trust easily?
Yep. Usually bites me in the butt.

8. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
Wouldn’t pursue it. I wouldn’t want to be the one to ruin someone else’s relationship.

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Yep, lots of things. Immigration makes me nervous to the point of panic attacks. Disappointment from certain situations has hurt me. Being as lonely as I am has been depressing. But I keep pulling through!

10. What is your best quality?
I don’t know, to be honest. I do know that I’m always there for people and I’m trustworthy - people are always telling me things starting with “Well, nobody knows this, but…” which entertains me, simply because it makes me proud to know that these people trust me!

11. Is being tagged fun?
Sure! Gives me something to blog about.

12. How do you see yourself?
Honestly? Not very well. I think I’m fat and ugly most of the time, and I feel like a loser. Some days though I see myself as a talented, intelligent individual who’s working hard for her goals. But those days are rare.

13. Who are currently the most important people to you?
Matt. My friends (Stacy, Gail, Katy, Angela, etc. etc. etc… you all know who you are and if you don’t, then ask me!) and family, even those that are far far away. Jane (Matt’s sister) - she’s the closest friend I have in this city and is always there for a laugh and for some fun!

14. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
Fantastic! She’s very determined and awesome and I adore her. ♥

15. Would you rather be single & rich or married but poor?
I think married but poor. Though honestly, how about I just strive to be married and reasonably wealthy?

16. How many children do you want to have, if any?
Two or three. I’d prefer a girl and a boy, I think.

17. What’s better, to give or to receive?
Honestly, to give. I know that sounds all… fake, but it’s true. I love wrapping up Christmas presents and seeing people open them. Receiving isn’t too bad, but I honestly do prefer to give.

18. If you fall in love with two people simultaneously, who would you pick?
I can’t imagine it’s even possible. At least, I’ve never experienced it, and I never will!

19. Are you abnormally obsessed with a book series or a Television show?
Nope. I do tend to latch on to TV shows that I’ve put on my computer to watch, but that’s just to keep me “company” and entertain myself.

20. What were your parents going to name you if you’d been born the opposite gender?
Alan Marcus.

I need to tag people now, which isn’t easy… so I think I’ll just say that if you see this, do it, and give me a link so I can read! :D

Friday’s Feast

Appetizer: What is the weather like today where you live?
It’s not too bad here today from what I can tell so far, but then again it’s only 20 to 9! I see sun, and it’s not too muggy so far. Looks like it’ll be a good day, overall!

Soup: On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how career-minded are you?
Right now? About a 3. Usually when I’m working or looking for work I’m around a 9 though. Career is very important to me, but I’m trying to keep it out of my mind until I’m legal to work so I don’t spend days thinking about it when I can’t do it!

Salad: What type of window coverings do you have in your home? Blinds, curtains, shutters, etc.?
All curtains. In Matt’s parents room they have pink curtains, I believe. In here we have blue semi-transparent curtains, and in the living room we have dark green curtains and a sheer black curtain to cover the windows. To be honest, we don’t have a lot of windows, and our coverings aren’t too great for the windows but it’s the best we could do in this apartment with the WORST WALLS EVER.

Main Course: Name something that instantly cheers you up.
Lots of things! Talking with friends works pretty well usually. A hug from Matt does it every time though. Or something silly.

Dessert: How many times do you hit the snooze button on a typical morning?
I never do, but that’s because I don’t have to get up with the alarm! I didn’t when I had to either, though. I’d rather just get up and get it over with, otherwise I’d be snooze-ing all day!

Ten on Tuesday: 10 Inventions That Have Made Life Easier
Posted on June 24th, 2008 @ 3:23 pm

I’m pretty sure there are much more IMPORTANT inventions out there, but these are ones that made life easier and therefore ones that I really like!

  1. Computers. Seriously! I don’t know what I’d do without it. It keeps me in-touch with friends and family that are far away, keeps me entertained when I otherwise would be incredibly bored, and helps me with things that I have problems with.
  2. Caller ID. Anyone who knows me well and calls me often knows that I’m a screener. I don’t like answering the phone unless I know exactly who it is, and I want to talk to them!
  3. Tin Foil. I cook everything with tin foil. Baking something in the oven? Toss in some tin foil for easy cleanup. Grilling? Toss it in tin foil for maximum moisture retention. Just don’t stick it in the…
  4. Microwave(s). I love having leftovers. I love cooking beforehand and saving meals so that I can eat them for lunch or for a quick and easy dinner on a lazy day. I know it can be done without a microwave, but who would want to?
  5. Cars. Cars make so many things easier! You can get places faster, you don’t have to worry about hurting when you walk far, and you can go places you’d never be able to get without a car, unless you find a way to get a horse and buggy on the highway!
  6. Showers. I know this is a weird one, but imagine if there were no showers, only bathtubs. I have long hair that’s really really hard to get clean even in a shower, so in a tub? I’d have such a hard time in a tub. Showers are quicker, too!
  7. Cell phones. I don’t have one right now, and I miss it more every day. The convenience of having a phone wherever you are is often underrated. Forgot what someone wanted at the grocery store? Call them! Need to get directions when you’re hopelessly lost? Call a friend!
  8. Alarm clocks. Now, I never wake up to alarms. I’m a really sound sleeper so I just don’t hear the alarm for whatever reason. However, these are wonderful. Can you imagine if we didn’t have alarms? So many people would be late because they overslept!
  9. Email. While this COULD theoretically go under “computers” I prefer to have it separate because you can have computers without email! I use this for everything and 99% of the time prefer it to the phone. If I could live my life communicating solely via email and face-to-face conversation I’d be completely happy to!
  10. Weight machines. This is weird, but I honestly think that if they didn’t have little machines telling you how to work out, that I’d never get anything done because I’d be too confused! Thank goodness for weight machines.
  11. So there you have it, my list of 10 Inventions That Have Made Life Easier. Go make your own!

Ten on Tuesday!
Posted on April 1st, 2008 @ 11:33 am

Today’s Ten on Tuesday is Ten Things You’d Fix in Your Home (if you had the time and money). For the purposes of this, I’m going to pretend I can do all of this stuff, since we live in an apartment and rent it. But we’ll pretend everything is fair game!

  1. Fix all the doors, including the balcony door. Most of them don’t shut properly!
  2. Redo the closets - put in organizers and shelves and replace the awful hanger rack that doesn’t work right!
  3. Fix the plumbing. The bathroom sink drips all the time and the kitchen sink leaks horribly!
  4. Add in overhead lighting in all rooms. The lighting in here kinda sucks, so I’d like to have it overhead for once!
  5. Paint all the rooms. White walls aren’t so much fun if they’re in every room all the time.
  6. New closet doors. They’re always stuck or broken or won’t open.
  7. More electrical outlets. Especially in the kitchen. You can’t use the microwave and our foreman grill at the same time, or it blows a fuse.
  8. New cabinets. The ones in the kitchen are just… boring.
  9. Built in shelving in the rooms. There’s not a lot of room in our bedroom for anything so some wall-mounted shelving would be great!
  10. Have the windows cleaned. We’re on the 6th floor of the building and they don’t ever have the windows washed, so it’d be nice to get the spots off of them for once.
