Photography - in a time capsule!Posted on September 1st, 2008 @ 9:04 am
One of my twitter friends linked to her photo time capsule, and I was intrigued. I signed up for my own, and it’s incredible! Photos from a year ago, sent directly to your email, with a message (if you want) from the year before!
It’s so funny that it’s been a year since I took my favourite photo of Mew Mew. The year goes quickly, hey?
Go sign up for your own! Then, share them with me! Have you improved in your photography? Have you went through any major life changes? Find out!

Yawn!Posted on June 17th, 2008 @ 8:50 am
I slept very weird last night - heavy dreaming and I woke up actually hurting. But that might be due in part to my workout yesterday - I did all upper body because my foot is still messed up! So anyway, that makes my chest and shoulders and upper back and arms very sore today. It’s a good sore, though, because it means I’m doing the workout that I need to be doing.
I’m trying to eat healthier, but TRYING is the key word there. How do people lose weight all the time? I’ve been at a plateau for what, a year now? Ugh. Disgusting. Thankfully, though, I can look at myself in a mirror now and see that I have more of a shape, and feel better about myself. Who can hate curves? I sure can’t!
What I can hate, however, is my eyes constantly burning. I need to go in soon for an eye exam and new contacts because my eyes just can’t handle not having them! Plus, a fresh prescription certainly couldn’t hurt, because seeing is definitely underrated. Well, seeing clearly, that is.
For the past week or so, Mew Mew’s been back to the way she was when we first got her. I was really getting tired of her trying to leave the bedroom constantly, only to want to be let back in three minutes later. It’s also nice not having anyone here to feed her treats and make her WANT to be away from me. Just the other night she wandered into the bedroom, meowing, and I turned around to give her the attention I usually give her when she comes in meowing, and I see that she’s brought me a present - her grey stuffed mouse. She’s wandering into my bedroom with a mouse, and obviously brought it for me, since she dropped it at my feet and wouldn’t stop meowing until I picked it up! She’s sweeter than she seems sometimes, that’s for sure.
The past two days were filled with lots of cleaning - we pretty much cleaned the apartment from top to bottom! I have to finish up a bit of dishes that are in the sink from yesterday, but otherwise… clean! I even swept and mopped the bathroom and vacuumed the hall and bedroom. Life always feels better in a clean home, doesn’t it?
And with that, I think I’m going to do the dishes and leave them out to dry, and then play some EQ2. I’m really enjoying my free play time, and why wouldn’t I? It’s free time with a game that I love but can’t play because I love WoW more. Now if only they’d throw player housing into WoW, I’d be set!

Today is not a good day.Posted on May 20th, 2008 @ 10:29 am
Anyone have any Cheetos? I’d like to pull a stunt similar to this commercial. I took my laundry downstairs to wash it, put it in the washer, came upstairs, and returned 30 minutes later. The washers take 25-30 minutes. I get down there, only to discover that my clothes have been taken out of the washer, set on top of a dusty washer next to it, and someone’s put their clothes in. My clothes are still practically dripping wet! This isn’t the first time this has happened, nor is it the second, or even the third. It happens quite frequently. So there I was, with a pile of wet clothes on a dusty washer (so much for washing the things, seriously) and a bag full of dirty clothes waiting for the washer, thinking how wonderful it was that I dragged the bag of clothes down there to wash when there was obviously no washers left, since they had to stoop to taking mine OUT of the washer… Except, there were two washers right next to the one my clothes were in, completely empty. Call me stupid, but if you open a washer and there’s clothes in it, wouldn’t you go look for one that didn’t have clothes in it before taking their freshly clean clothes out and leaving them in a big pile? I sure would. Maybe I’m in the wrong here.
Add to that the fact that I woke up early this morning, was all prepared to face the day, and a half hour later, Matt walks in the room and says “The cat puked. Twice. In the bathroom.” So, lucky me, I got to go clean that up, and while doing so, the toilet decided to overflow. Not to mention the fact that despite the puking incident, I highly doubt Matt’s dad will stop giving her half a bag of treats per day. Okay, I exaggerate. But I have the right to, on a day like today!
Can I just go to bed and start over? It’s only 11:30 - maybe if I do it before noon?

10:30 and already awake!Posted on May 15th, 2008 @ 9:45 am
This is big news for me, the sleep-until-noon person. Not to mention I’ve been up for an hour!
I had such a weird dream last night, though, that I woke up feeling rushed and anxious. It wasn’t a bad dream. Just a busy dream. I think I wore myself out in my dream more than I did in real life! All I remember is something about moving into a new apartment with Matt and two of his friends and his family and arranging the furniture.
The cat wants out of the bedroom right now. Lately she does this thing where she sits at the door and paws at it, like she’s knocking. I’d go and let her out if she wouldn’t be begging to get back in within five minutes! That’s the only frustrating thing. I do think it’s cute that she knocks, though.
I need to go to the gym today. I haven’t went since last Monday (bad, I know!) and so I feel like a slacker. I’m also feeling extra big lately and that makes me unhappy. I talked to Matt and Stacy last night to ask what they each thought was a reasonable amount to set a goal for the gym. Matt said two days per week would be the acceptable bare minimum. Stacy said to shoot for four days per week. So I’ll be trying for four, settling for three, never going below two.
I think part of my big problem with losing weight is that I have two options, as I see it: set low goals so they’re achievable without much hassle, or set high goals and feel like a failure when I don’t reach them. I need to turn my outlook on this around and start setting high goals and achieving them! And in the meantime, I need to accept myself for what I’m like now. Life’s too short to always be waiting for tomorrow!
My grandparents visiting was absolutely wonderful. We did a bit of sightseeing - Matt showed them around downtown by the waterfront, I showed them where we got married and where we used to live. We did some shopping - my poor grandmother sat there while I tried on over 40 pairs of jeans to find one that fit properly. We went out to eat - we showed them some of our favourite restaurants and even visited some new ones! We did some crafts and played some games - I made a belt and we played Scattergories. It was a short visit, but everything was fantastic.

I feel like I need to melt into a puddle now.Posted on February 18th, 2008 @ 6:58 pm
I do! I am so tired from my workout today that it’s not even funny. Add to that bringing up a week’s full of groceries after all of that, and we live on the 6th floor. It’s worth it, though. Days like today I feel like I can do anything!
My talk with the trainer went incredibly well. She gave me images to show where I could be in three months and then in 6 months, then a year. I can make crazy progress if I keep going three times a week and follow my plan. We’re even eating better lately! I’ve gotten out of my “funk” somehow and come up with good recipes that are healthy and that Matt will eat. We haven’t had fast food in days! Check some of the meals we’ve had for dinner lately here.
Today I really was brave with my workout. I went in early for a class to get a regular workout done BEFORE the class. Here’s what I did:
- Warmup: 5 minutes on the treadmill, 2.5 speed
- Lower Back: 12 reps, 95 lbs.
- Leg Extension: 12 reps, 50 lbs.
- Leg Curl: 12 reps, 65 lbs.
- Leg Press: 12 reps, 80 lbs.
- Seated Row: 12 reps, 50 lbs.
- Chest Press: 12 reps, 30 lbs.
- Shoulder Lateral Raise: 12 reps, 20 lbs.
- Bicep: 10 reps, 30 lbs.
- Tricep: 10 reps, 30 lbs.
- Ball crunches: 12 reps.
- Cardio: 17 minutes, treadmill, 2.5 speed.
All of this followed by a Body Flow class - Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi for an hour. Can you see why I want to melt into a puddle now?
Mew Mew is almost completely back to normal now. Jumping around, playing, eating, talking… Yes, talking. Or meowing. Whatever you want to think of it. She’s always been a chatty cat and while she was recovering she was almost silent. I like her this way much better. Of course, being the overprotective cat mama that I am I’m watching her very closely - I don’t want her to pull a stitch or anything. She has to get them out in about a week.
