Broken site, ugh!
Posted on November 26th, 2008 @ 4:23 pm

My site is broken. Why, I don’t know, but it is. I’m posting anyway though because I have to! Have to post every day!

I’m not really up to much and don’t have a lot to say, so this is a short post, I guess. I just wanted to sneak in here in between finding quests in World of Warcraft. Hopefully my site comes back up soon, because it’s not good that it’s not working! :(

New theme!
Posted on August 27th, 2008 @ 9:55 am

I quite like this theme. It’s roomy without being overbearing and there’s enough space for everything I want. I feel a bit weird about not having a links bar in the header but to be honest, it’s a good change. I weeded out a few useless links and made a little paragraph about me, and whatever I could fit into that comfortably, I left and linked.

I’ve been playing a lot of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass lately. It was one of the anniversary gifts I got! I’m a HUGE Zelda fan, way back to the NES days, so I’m enjoying it. I have to say that they’ve done an incredibly good job at integrating the touch screen and all of the features the DS has to offer. They’ve done it in a creative way, that has me saying “Oh my goodness, that’s so freaking cool” no less than twice a day when I’m playing it.

The other game I got isn’t so much of a game, but I can say I definitely enjoy it. It’s My Weight Loss Coach and it’s so incredibly cute. There’s a little stick figure on my screen patting me on the back for everything good that I do. They’ve taken advantage of the fact that you can plug in GBA games at the same time as DS games, and made a pedometer that syncs with your game by plugging it into the GBA slot. It’s almost a light-weight approach to weight loss. They give me six challenges per day (no more!) that range from “Do X amount of sit-ups” to “Over the next twenty-four hours, put your salt shaker in the cabinet and leave it there” and if you don’t finish a challenge, instead of beating you over the head with it, they say that there’s no harm in taking easier challenges first.

Speaking of weight loss, I’m pretty sure I won’t be renewing my gym membership for the next year. Don’t get me wrong, I loved going - when I’d go. Because it involved either walking (made difficult by shin splints) or driving there, I’d make excuses not to go. Once the shininess wore off, I was able to justify not going and it didn’t help. Not to mention I’d get there and I’d already be tired, so I would only do a small workout. I lost ten pounds last summer working out at home, and gained it back and ten more while at the gym. While I’m pretty sure there’s a medical reason behind my constant gain and failure to lose, I know that something’s not right when I’m paying bi-weekly for something that isn’t working for me. I figure I’ll work out at home and focus on getting the most I can out of it, and once I’m back on track and have picked up momentum, I’ll consider going back to the gym. That money could be used for better (or more fun!) things. Besides, one of the main reasons for joining was because it’s a social atmosphere, and I’m not getting the social vibe.

So that’s my life lately in a nutshell. I’ve also purchased a new planner, but I’ll be writing more about that in another entry that’s in the making. It’s a planner; it’s like a child to me! I couldn’t just leave it as a footnote!

Short blog!

I’ve been opening this over and over and over again to post, and I’ve been too lazy. I’ve been too lazy to upload my photos to Flickr lately, too. That’ll change soon, I promise! Quite possibly tomorrow. Maybe. Someone make me do it!

New books!
Posted on May 27th, 2008 @ 2:10 am

On a whim the other day, Matt and I decided to make a trek over to Chapters and pick up some books. He got some geeky ones, I got some girly ones.

New books!

I’m in the middle of Remember Me right now and I’m loving it! It reminds me of Samantha Who? in a way. Fantastic show, by the way. I’m a fan of shows that are either narrated (like Sex and the City) or have mini-titles (like this one!). Anyway, back to the book. I’ve got all of the Shopaholic books and the Undomestic Goddess so I had to have this one when it came out. I waited a bit and got it for quite a discount! On top of that, each of the other four books (all Red Dress Ink, by the way, my favourite kind!) was $4.99 with a 10% discount! Go go bargain shopper! It made up for Matt’s fancy programming books (which I may use someday myself!) that I don’t happen to have a photo of right now.

Right now my head is killing me, but I had to blog. Why, you ask? This is why:

Can you believe it? This is my 650th post here at Words Unspoken. This blog has seen a lot of ups and downs, just like I have.

Lately I’ve not been in a blogging mood. I’m just in a… weird mood, I guess. That’s the only way to even remotely explain it. I’m dealing with my issues as they come, and trying to push myself past them. I got my extension, for those of you wondering, so I’m legal for a bit longer. Now I have to push my paperwork through and send it away in the next three months, which will be daunting and to be honest, I’m terrified, but it’s got to be done! One step at a time, I guess.

I’ve been doing a lot of fill-in puzzles lately. I bought a book a few days ago (a week ago, I guess?) and now I’m on page 47. I did one on the exercise bike yesterday at the gym, but that didn’t go over too well. Whoops!

Speaking of the gym, I walked there again today, even though I just went yesterday. Boy, were my legs mad at me for walking there! Halfway there I got to the point where I wanted to just sit down and send mental messages to Matt to come pick me up because my legs were burning so bad I didn’t think I’d make it. But I did! Turns out I got there early for the “party” thing they had going on today, so I had to do something. So, I hopped on a bike, biked a mile, then did a Body Flow class.

When I got to the class, one of the ladies that I always see in there approached me. We had our usual “Hi, how are you” greeting, and then she said something that really shocked me. “Boy, you’re really losing a lot of weight, aren’t you?” I was amazed. I haven’t lost a pound, and I told her so. She replied “Well, then you must be toning up, because you look smaller than when you first came in!” I told her that she had just made my month, and really, she did. That was the best thing for me to hear today when I’ve been feeling so helpless about my weight. As Stacy said, all my hard work is finally paying off in a real way. Thank goodness!

Speaking of Stacy, my bestest friend in the whole world (haha, did I give you a flashback to 5th grade there?), her birthday was today yesterday. Darn me not going bed until the next day. Anyway, I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, I hope it was fantastic! I know you didn’t get to do what you had hoped to do, since your guild is doing its… well, its thing, but I hope it was good anyway! ♥

Anyway, I have photos uploading on Flickr and have to pick out what we’re watching when we go to bed tonight. I’m thinking it’ll be The Other Sister followed by Season 1 of Scrubs, and then maybe House afterward, just so it doesn’t go blank in the middle of the night.

Goodnight everyone!
