New theme!

I quite like this theme. It’s roomy without being overbearing and there’s enough space for everything I want. I feel a bit weird about not having a links bar in the header but to be honest, it’s a good change. I weeded out a few useless links and made a little paragraph about me, and whatever I could fit into that comfortably, I left and linked.

I’ve been playing a lot of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass lately. It was one of the anniversary gifts I got! I’m a HUGE Zelda fan, way back to the NES days, so I’m enjoying it. I have to say that they’ve done an incredibly good job at integrating the touch screen and all of the features the DS has to offer. They’ve done it in a creative way, that has me saying “Oh my goodness, that’s so freaking cool” no less than twice a day when I’m playing it.

The other game I got isn’t so much of a game, but I can say I definitely enjoy it. It’s My Weight Loss Coach and it’s so incredibly cute. There’s a little stick figure on my screen patting me on the back for everything good that I do. They’ve taken advantage of the fact that you can plug in GBA games at the same time as DS games, and made a pedometer that syncs with your game by plugging it into the GBA slot. It’s almost a light-weight approach to weight loss. They give me six challenges per day (no more!) that range from “Do X amount of sit-ups” to “Over the next twenty-four hours, put your salt shaker in the cabinet and leave it there” and if you don’t finish a challenge, instead of beating you over the head with it, they say that there’s no harm in taking easier challenges first.

Speaking of weight loss, I’m pretty sure I won’t be renewing my gym membership for the next year. Don’t get me wrong, I loved going - when I’d go. Because it involved either walking (made difficult by shin splints) or driving there, I’d make excuses not to go. Once the shininess wore off, I was able to justify not going and it didn’t help. Not to mention I’d get there and I’d already be tired, so I would only do a small workout. I lost ten pounds last summer working out at home, and gained it back and ten more while at the gym. While I’m pretty sure there’s a medical reason behind my constant gain and failure to lose, I know that something’s not right when I’m paying bi-weekly for something that isn’t working for me. I figure I’ll work out at home and focus on getting the most I can out of it, and once I’m back on track and have picked up momentum, I’ll consider going back to the gym. That money could be used for better (or more fun!) things. Besides, one of the main reasons for joining was because it’s a social atmosphere, and I’m not getting the social vibe.

So that’s my life lately in a nutshell. I’ve also purchased a new planner, but I’ll be writing more about that in another entry that’s in the making. It’s a planner; it’s like a child to me! I couldn’t just leave it as a footnote!

New theme!
Posted on January 13th, 2008 @ 4:32 pm

I’m not positive that it’s 100% done, but I like it so far! What do you think?

Also, if you’re viewing it while Flickr is still “having a massage,” make sure to come back when Flickr’s back up - I have random pictures in my header!

I’m not really sure what else I want to do with the theme. I do like that it’ll be easily recolourable, because that makes my job easy when I get bored!

I do have a favour to ask of everyone that reads this - recommend a movie or two! I’m dying to watch new movies (or new to me, anyway) but can’t really think of anything to watch!

A couple things to note
Posted on January 11th, 2008 @ 1:51 am

I’m working on a new custom theme. From scratch. Yikes! I’m a bit scared, but whatever. I’ll figure it out eventually.

Also, Matt’s dad waited a long time for Matt’s mom to be gone before making the apartment a big smoke-filled… uh, apartment. She was gone probably eight hours (if that) before our apartment became a crowded bar on a weekend night. I have to say I do understand that it’s cold outside, but what’s the deal here? We pay just as much on the apartment as he does, so why is it that we don’t need to be respected? I won’t say anything to him, because I don’t feel it’s my place, but really… he could get us evicted for this. It’s really irritating.

September Goals
Posted on September 1st, 2007 @ 12:20 pm

It’s a new month now, so I figure what better time to wipe the slate clean?

My goals for the month are going to be simple, so that I don’t lose focus.

Weight Loss
- Record everything I eat on SparkPeople. No matter what.
- Drink plenty of water - I need to be very good about drinking at least 8 glasses per day.
- No soda, at all. This won’t be -too- hard, but I need to put it in writing so it’s a solid rule for myself.
- A little bit of exercise every day. Even if it means walking around the living room in laps, which is actually more fun than it seems!
- Limit fast food to healthy choices - light subs from Subway, chicken tacos from Taco Bell, etc. No sense depriving myself, but also no sense in putting wasted calories into my body!

Social & Hobbies
- Have a movie marathon night. This is one of the items on my 101 things list, and I’d really like to do it! It seems like a nice, fairly inexpensive way to spend a night with a good friend.
- Get Thaelani to at least 50, if not 60. I need to level her, badly.
- Do at least one DITL.

Personal
- Get fingerprinted and send away for records. At least get one step out of the way for Immigration, since we’ve been procrastinating like mad. It’s probably because I’m too nervous to start thinking about the whole process, and so it sends me into panic attacks!
- Take at least five pictures per day. Maybe upload some, maybe just keep them in my photos folder.
- Stop biting my nails. For real, this time.

Also, new theme! Opinions?

A new theme!
Posted on August 14th, 2007 @ 12:28 pm

I spent the better part of last night customizing the new theme at Words Unspoken, but I think I have it where I want it now! I thought it would take until September to code and put up, but hey, it’s early! Yay, early! Let me know what you think of it!
