Okay, this has been bothering me for long enough now. Time to ask everyone and anyone: What the heck is up with people using spaces before their punctuation at the end of a sentence?

I don’t get it. Honestly, I have no clue whatsoever. But I’m sick of seeing it.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Edit: I have been kindly informed by a friend that the space is actually grammatically correct in some places. Now that I know that, I feel much better about it. It still strikes me as odd, but only in the way that customs from other countries (or areas of countries) often do. Thanks for that information!
