A good point.

I posted my rant about people trying to use profanity filters as an excuse for profanity a few days ago. I found a very interesting quote on this thread about it today.

Being in the Armed Forces, I have several implements designed to deflect or absorb hostile fire. Does that give you the right to shoot at me?

Same applies to the word filters, granted, on a non-life-threatening scale.

Context matters very little in such things. You can use vulgarity at someone or about some other random aspect of the game…you still used it, thus violating the agreement you made when you started playing. Some words are questionable as to their severity, such as the incident in question. This is probably why you did not get a suspension. I would guess that had a more severe word been used, the punishment would scale accordingly. I find it amusing that people think they can justify inappropriate behavior under some circumstances. Blizzard’s guidelines are black and white…no disputable gray areas. Don’t use vulgar language under any circumstances. Period. They didn’t say “except when not directed at another player or in a momentary slip of self restraint.” Or maybe the TOU has been ammended without my knowing?

And again, the filter is there as a safeguard…a last line of defense intended to catch the occasional vulgarity by those who may not always follow the rules. It is intended to supplement the rules in order to provide everyone with a good experience. The argument about that is simply silly, to put it nicely.

How hard is it to simply respect people and not use vulgar language? Is it really that important to use these words? Would you use them in a job interview? Would you say them to the Brownie selling cookies to you? Why then is it necessary to do it in a gaming community where you are surrounded by every age group. When you get mad that your group wiped, feel free to spout any obscenity you want at your monitor if it makes you feel better…but don’t translate that into typed chat text.

In the end you can argue and debate all you want about if it’s right or wrong, or if I am lame for reporting it…but the fact is, it will be reported and you will lose and earn a good 3 hours to go spit your venom wherever else you see fit.

World of Warcraft
Yet another amazing find!

I’m starting to really love StumbleUpon. Seriously. I keep finding the absolute coolest websites ever! This time, it’s fredflare.com.

When I saw that vacuum, I immediately thought of Val, my best friend in Michigan. She collects pigs! I think she’d love it. But that’s not all the cute stuff that they have! Just look at these:

I’m pretty tired today.

I was up all night. I intended to go to bed, I really did. But then I got involved in organizing my pictures (over 4,000 files at its worst!) and wanted to get a significant chunk of that done. Finally, I decided that I had done enough, and that I was exhausted and wanted to go to bed.

I went to bed and put Employee of the Month on TV, because On-Demand rocks, and I usually fall right to sleep when watching a movie. Not this time, though. I just could not fall asleep! I made it through that movie and put on Running with Scissors but I couldn’t concentrate on it. My ribs started hurting from a very irritating sneeze that wouldn’t come out, and so I got up and stretched my chest out, and decided to go on the computer. I made myself breakfast (rice and milk with tea to drink) and finished up my pictures. I restarted my computer to clear out some weird stuck files, and decided to take a shower, then a relaxing bath.

After this, I managed to feel tired enough to go to sleep! I told Matt that it was only to be a nap, nothing more, and that if he got a call, he needed to wake me up before he left and make sure I got out of bed, and at least on the computer. This way I wouldn’t sleep all day and really screw up my sleeping schedule.

And, here I am! Bright eyed, and bushy-tai… whatever. A bit tired, but not so bad! I need to put my laundry away and put the dishes from last night away. I started organizing my jewelry in a new way, so I need to work on that. I’ve also started fixing some bracelets (they were beaded on wire, but the wire kept cutting the outside of my wrists because it wasn’t finished well, so I’m moving each one to stretchy jewelry string) which I need to finish up.

I’ve decided that I’m going to (eventually) get some fabric and get Matt’s mom’s sewing machine down and try my hand at making this shopping bag for grocery shopping. It’s convenient, and will be great for at least smaller trips. Mew Mew loves plastic bags, but I don’t love waking up to the rustling of them every morning!
