A good friend brought up another short rant, and she didn’t even know it!Posted on January 4th, 2008 @ 12:12 pm
Why do people take normal words and make them crazy just for fun? I just saw “laffed” and it cracked me up. But for a while, my sister typed “wif” constantly. WIF. Or wait, maybe it had two Fs, I’m not really sure. That’s not the point.
How is “dun” a word now? I admit, I’ll use “I dunno” when I’m being silly or something. I don’t like it, but I do sometimes anyway. Typing out “I don’t know” in an extremely casual conversation is strange to me. But when you say something like “I dun have one” do you even say that out loud to yourself as you type it? You sound like an idiot! Do you think it’s cute or something? I can’t figure it out. Not cute, not cute at all. Just stupid.

Pet Peeves - Have you missed them?Posted on January 4th, 2008 @ 1:01 am
I’ve missed posting them, that’s for sure! So today, for your reading pleasure, I give you today’s random list of pet peeves!
- People who shorten words that don’t really need to be shortened, like “anyone” becoming “ne1″ and things like that. (That was painful to type!)
- People who lengthen words in the wrong way. Yes, there is a right and wrong way. “Niiiiiiiice” is how you would over-pronounce the word “nice,” but “niceeeeeeeeeeeeee” is more like nicey. Make sense?
- In going with the last one, I hate people who use the word “awe” when they mean “aw” - and they lengthen the Es on that one, too. “Aweeeeee” is “awey” and isn’t really a word at all, right? Right.
- People who type
Like this
So that it looks
Like some freaky form
Of poetry.
- People who overuse ampersands. I’ve ranted about this before but apparently that did no good. Not that I expected it to, but it still bugs me. This time, in addition to the double ampersand (ugh!), there’s a new problem. People beginning sentences with an ampersand! Where did they get the idea to do this? You’re technically not supposed to start a sentence with a conjunction, but it’s forgivable in informal writing most times. Starting a sentence with punctuation? Unforgivable, I think.
There’s much, much more where that came from, but I can’t think of any of it right now, so that list will have to do. Just know that if you do these things, you’re driving me slowly insane!
