I'm Ang.

I'm a 23-year-old married woman who followed her heart (and her husband!) to Nova Scotia, where I'm currently a housewife, planning my future. I'm a huge computer nerd, especially when it comes to video games. I'm a fan of lists and spend a lot of time making them, even if they have no purpose at all. Want to know more?

When all else fails, check the date.

Apparently, in this case, I fail. For the past few days, I’ve been tearing my hair out trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with my computer, and why it wouldn’t let me go to certain websites (online banking being one of them). Then, I discovered that my MSN wouldn’t log me in on Trillian, and that made me want to pull my hair out! I then tried to download the actual MSN messenger (Live? MSN? Windows? Who knows, they keep changing it!) and install it, and that wouldn’t work.

All this time, and I sat here like an idiot, trying to figure it out. Matt sits down for a few minutes, tests a couple small things, and then realizes it’s my date. He did a few things to my computer about a week or so ago, and it reset the date. I knew it had, so I changed the month, day, and time back, but apparently forgot to do the year! My computer thought it was 2003, so none of the security certificate things for websites worked. What a dummy I am!

Matt and I rearranged the bedroom over the past few days, and it’s already feeling awesome in here. Lots of space and light and it just fits much much better! I’ve posted some photos on my flickr, but you can only see them if you’re set to a friend or family member. But it’s wonderful!

Friday’s Feast

Appetizer: What is the weather like today where you live?
It’s not too bad here today from what I can tell so far, but then again it’s only 20 to 9! I see sun, and it’s not too muggy so far. Looks like it’ll be a good day, overall!

Soup: On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how career-minded are you?
Right now? About a 3. Usually when I’m working or looking for work I’m around a 9 though. Career is very important to me, but I’m trying to keep it out of my mind until I’m legal to work so I don’t spend days thinking about it when I can’t do it!

Salad: What type of window coverings do you have in your home? Blinds, curtains, shutters, etc.?
All curtains. In Matt’s parents room they have pink curtains, I believe. In here we have blue semi-transparent curtains, and in the living room we have dark green curtains and a sheer black curtain to cover the windows. To be honest, we don’t have a lot of windows, and our coverings aren’t too great for the windows but it’s the best we could do in this apartment with the WORST WALLS EVER.

Main Course: Name something that instantly cheers you up.
Lots of things! Talking with friends works pretty well usually. A hug from Matt does it every time though. Or something silly.

Dessert: How many times do you hit the snooze button on a typical morning?
I never do, but that’s because I don’t have to get up with the alarm! I didn’t when I had to either, though. I’d rather just get up and get it over with, otherwise I’d be snooze-ing all day!

Overemotional?

[01:21] Stacy: Is it sad that a refrigerator commercial that shows them demolishing their old refrigerators says “Do Not Attempt” on the bottom of the screen?
[01:21] Stacy: It almost makes me weep for my generation
[01:21] Ang: Awww
[01:21] Ang: lol
[01:21] Ang: I read that wrong
[01:21] Ang: hence the “awww”
[01:21] Ang: I thought them demolishing refrigerators made you weep

I failed.

I really really failed. After so many days of doing 365 shots, I forgot yesterday. But I have a reason, and wonder if I can’t just pick up from today and keep going since technically this year has an extra day anyway. What do you think? I think I’ll do it, why not, right? Ugh. Still makes me feel like a bit of a failure though. On to the reason…

I intended to take the shot after I had my blood work done - a photo of my little band-aid on my arm saying that I finally had my immigration medical and there weren’t many steps left for me to do. Except I didn’t have all of it. As it turns out, the physical is done one place, and the place where they’re going to do the other tests (blood test, urine test, chest x-ray) is the hospital, and they’re only open from 8:30 - 2. Matt’s going to have to take a morning off to take me in for those. I suppose he could take me in early in the morning, have some lunch with me if it takes too long, and then drop me off at the bus station and go over the bridge to work. I just feel bad that I have to inconvenience him for it. There’s no way I’m going alone, though. No way at all.

The physical went well, though. It was good to have a doctor NOT mention my weight. Usually they do, and say “Oh, well you know you’re obese” and give you a hard time while you try to tell them that you have tried to lose weight and that it’s just going slower than you’d like. Not this guy, he didn’t say a thing! He was really friendly and we were cracking jokes back and forth. Like when he listened to my heart, he said “Sounds good!” and I looked at Matt and said “Hey, I have a heart!” The doctor responded with “Oh, and here I’d thought you’d given it to this young man!” Cracked me up, I tell you.

Oh, and I fasted yesterday, because I thought I had to, and nope. Even if the blood test had to be done, it’s a non-fasting blood test. They’re apparently testing for TB and… er… something else that I can’t think of. Oh, well. I know I don’t have any infectious diseases and since they don’t care about things that aren’t going to put the Canadian public at risk, I’m good to go. Plus he said he’d get ahold of me if anything was seriously wrong. It’s very weird that they don’t send the results TO me, though. They courier them over to the physical doctor guy, and he couriers them over to immigration in Ottawa,

I’m very hungry right now, so I think I’m going to have some toast and if I can find the stuff, maybe a cup of tea. Watching shows where they drink a lot of tea has gotten to me! Maybe some orange juice instead though, who knows. And I might boil an egg - a boiled egg sounds good! I’m craving such weird things lately. And no, before you wonder, I’m not pregnant. Though just about everyone else is!
